Big news! Hyundai cars to get safer with ADAS and more technology for Creta, Alcazar – Times of India

In recent times, safety has rightfully gone on to become one of the first and foremost aspects buyers consider while buying a new vehicle. This has pushed manufacturers to introduce more safety features for their respective cars. Moreover, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) laid down a list of safety features that are mandatory for all passenger vehicles sold in India back in 2019, including dual frontal airbags, ABS with EBD, a high-speed alert system, etc.
However, given the competitiveness of mass-market segments, many manufacturers today offer a plethora of additional safety features with the higher-end variants of their offerings. Hyundai Motor India Ltd is one such manufacturer that continues to work on improving the safety quotient of its vehicles. As per our sources in the supply chain, Hyundai plans to soon standardise certain safety features on the Creta and the Alcazar.
These safety features include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control with Vehicle Stability Management, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. As of now, these features are only offered with the range-topping SX (O) variant of the Creta, and Signature trim of the Alcazar, priced from Rs 16.89 lakh and Rs 18.73 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards respectively.
Apart from that, Hyundai is also in the works of introducing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across a majority of its range. The company has not made any official statement yet but as per our sources, these safety features could be introduced soon. It is yet to be seen whether this will be Level 1 or Level 2 ADAS, but it will put Hyundai in line with MG and Mahindra – the only two companies that currently offer ADAS safety features on their mass-market vehicles.
Introduction of ADAS will mean that the mentioned Hyundai vehicles will use a combination of camera, radar and sensors to prevent an accident. The features expected to be a part of the system include Autonomous brake asssistance, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning amonth other features. After the Creta and Alcazar Verna and Venue too could get these updates.
