BJP’s mission Tamil Nadu: Amit Shah launches ‘padyatra’, calls DMK ‘most corrupt party’, takes dig at oppn’s INDIA | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Taking a potshot at the new opposition bloc, INDIA, Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday said that merely “changing the name does nothing” and that the people will always remember the scams “worth over twelve lakh crores” that took place under the UPA regime.

Shah was in Tamil Nadu‘s Madurai to launch the BJP’s six-month-long padayatra ‘En Mann, En Makkal’ (My Land, My People).
The 168-day padayatra that will begin from Rameswaram aims to cover all 234 assembly constituencies across the state and is scheduled to conclude on January 11 next year ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai will lead the yatra.

Speaking at the launch, Shah said the BJP yatra was aimed at bringing about change and “freeing Tamil Nadu from dynastic politics, corruption and to improve the law and order situation in the state … In the last 9 years, PM Modi has replaced the politics of casteism, familism, appeasement, regionalism with the politics of performance”.
The Union minister, however, added that the yatra was not just about politics but also to “spread the Tamil language worldwide”. “Through the yatra, Annamalai is going to establish the nationalism of PM Modi across Tamil Nadu. PM Modi was the first to speak in Tamil – the world’s oldest language,” he said.
Annamalai has said that at least one central minister will address each of the 10 major rallies that have been planned during the yatra.
“There is anti-incumbency in the state. People are very clear, they don’t want DMK or any party that DMK is supporting,” said the state party chief.
Tearing into the ruling party in the state, Shah said: “The DMK is the most corrupt party. One of their ministers was arrested for a scam by the Enforcement Directorate. However, despite being in jail, he is still the minister … But chief minister M K Stalin will not ask for his resignation because the minister will spill all the secrets about Stalin.”
The minister also took a shot at INDIA, of which DMK is a member. “I want to tell the Congress and Tamil Nadu CM Stalin that changing the name does nothing. As soon as you go in public, people remember the commonwealth scam, 2G scam, coal scam, choppers scam, submarine scam, ISRO scam and many more.”
