In what could be termed as VVIP culture during a global pandemic, an advanced Covid-19 hospital has come up at 1, Anne Marg, the official residence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after his niece tested positive for the virus.

A team of six doctors and three nurses have been deputed at this hospital to work in three shifts.

A circular in this regard was issued by the Patna Medical College and Hospital Superintendent Dr Bimal Karak on Tuesday.

The circular reads “In the light of the instructions given by the Additional Secretary, Health Department over the telephone, to prevent infection caused by Covid-19 virus, a hospital with a ventilator is to be made operational at Chief Minister’s residence. Team of six doctors and three nurses is being deputed at the CM residence to work in three shifts”.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav tweeted about Nitish Kumar’s move to set up a Covid hospital at CM residence and said, “The Chief Minister’s Covid test is conducted and report is out within two hours. After his niece got infected, he has got a hospital with ventilator facility operational at his residence, where an army of six doctors, three nurses and health worker has been deputed. Even after four months, why is this type of facility not available for common people ?”

CM Nitish Kumar’s niece tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday after which she was admitted at AIIMS Patna for treatment.

Notably, samples of the chief minister besides those who were in regular touch with him had been collected over the weekend after Acting Chairman of the state legislative council Awadhesh Narayan Singh tested positive for coronavirus.

Kumar had interacted with Singh on July 1 at a ceremony where nine MLCs, elected recently, were administered the oath of office.

One of the newly-elected legislators, Ghulam Ghous of the JD(U) headed by Kumar, has also tested positive.

The chief minister’s test reports had come out on Saturday night and he was said to be safe from the coronavirus infection.
