TOI tops 16 trust parameters, joint first in other two: Survey | India News – Times of India
The Times of India came out tops on 16 out of 18 trust perception parameters and joint top scorer on the remaining two, according to a survey of 52 English news brands across media types. That perception rubs off on those advertising in TOI too, the survey revealed.
In response to the statement that “a brand/service advertised on this source comes across as more trustworthy than others”, TOI scored 65, ahead of the other 24 print plus digital brands that were part of this comparison.
TOI also top scored with 64 in responses to “a brand/service advertised on this source has high influence on my usage/purchase decision”.
The survey was commissioned by TOI and conducted online by market research agency Nielsen among respondents in the age group of 21 to 45 years in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The respondents belonged to category NCCS A (New Consumer Classification System) and are English news consumers across all media and regular readers/consumers of news.
The study found that TOI is by far the country’s most trusted English news brand across media types. A trust index developed by Nielsen rated TOI at 77.6, well ahead of Twitter at 60.7 and BBC World News at 56.5, its findings showed.
The findings buttress earlier studies by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University, which too had found TOI to be the most trusted of India’s major media brands in two consecutive years. tnn
