Former India batter Wasim Jaffer praised the crucial partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav, which helped India bounce back in the Ranchi Test. The duo built a crucial partnership, bringing down England’s first innings lead to just 46 runs on Day 3 of the Test match.

The fourth Test between India and England has been full of individual brilliance so far, from both sides. Following the crumble of their top-order batters, India were put in a tough spot, limited to 219/7 at stumps on Day 2 of the Ranchi Test. At the end of Day 2 of the Test match, England felt that they were in complete command, still leading by 134 runs.

However, it was the formidably composed 8th wicket partnership of 76 runs between Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav that brought India back into the contest.

Jurel’s knock of 90 off 149 balls, which marked his maiden Test fifty, and Kuldeep’s resilient 28 off 131 balls, became a point of praise for many fans and commentators alike. Former India batter Wasim Jaffer opined on India’s performance in the Ranchi Test and said that it was Kuldeep and Jurel’s game-reading that helped them succeed in Ranchi.

In his recent post on X, the former India batter lavished praise on the duo, heralding their partnership as a crucial turning point in the fourth Test.

“Whole of India to Dhruv Jurel today!! What an impressive performance both behind and in front of the wicket by Dhruv. The importance of this knock and the partnership with Kuldeep cannot over overstated. Top notch game awareness,” Jaffer’s post said.

On Day 3, an unfortunate dismissal of Kuldeep Yadav by a delivery from James Anderson marked the end of the partnership. Yadav got out after the ball hit his pad, ricocheted to his bat and then trickled down into the stumps. However, this setback did not signal the end of the road for the visitors. On the contrary, Jurel, standing strong at the crease, proceeded to forge another 40-run partnership with tail-ender Akash Deep.

At the end of Day 3, India were put in a strong position to win the Test match by their bowlers, who bowled out the visiting team for just 145 runs in the second innings. India were set a target of 192 runs by the Ben Stokes-led team.
