Watch: Rahul Dravid’s priceless reaction after facing young girl’s fiery delivery
Legendary India batter Rahul Dravid was impressed by the skill level and pace of school girls who competed in the Royals Cricket Cup 2024, one of India’s largest inter-school competitions for girls. Dravid, who is known for his incredible defence, was beaten by a couple of deliveries from the girls, who loved the opportunity to have a crack at the former India cricketer.
Rahul Dravid’s reaction to the deliveries that beat his defence has gone viral on social media. The former India head coach was in awe of the deliveries from the young school-going girls, who bowled with a lot of enthusiasm. Dravid was beaten twice in a span of a couple of deliveries, as seen in a video shared by the IPL franchise.
It was a proud moment for the young cricketers, who were part of the final match of the interschool competition at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Dravid went on to applaud the bowling efforts of the young girls and was seen interacting with the teams after his brief stint in the middle.
Dravid was among the esteemed dignitaries, including Rajasthan Sports Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Secretary of Sports Neeraj K Pawan. Dravid was later seen presenting the winning team the cheque and the trophy after the final match.
In an exciting match, the team from Bikaner emerged victorious over Kota to clinch the championship. Bikaner took home the winner’s trophy along with a cash prize of Rs1 lakh, while the runner-up team from Kota received Rs 50,000.
The grand finale witnessed an impressive turnout, with hundreds of enthusiastic supporters and fans filling the stadium to cheer on the young athletes.
“Seeing these young girls play with such passion and determination is a reminder of the bright future of women’s cricket in India,” Dravid said, as quoted by the Royals after the game.
“Tournaments like the Royals Cricket Cup not only provide exposure but also instil confidence in these athletes to dream big. Congratulations to the champions and all the teams for their hard work and spirit,” he added.
Dravid will be back in the IPL auction table on November 24 and 25. He took over as the head coach of the Royals earlier this year, following the completion of his successful stint as the head coach of the senior national men’s team.
