Bangladesh to decide on T20 World Cup participation after meeting cricketers
The Bangladesh government will take a call on the country’s participation in the T20 World Cup at a cabinet meeting on Friday, January 23. India Today has learnt that the government will also meet members of the national cricket team to take their opinion on the matter.
On Thursday, January 22, the International Cricket Council gave Bangladesh a day to decide on their participation in the T20 World Cup. The ICC rejected Bangladesh’s request to shift their matches out of India, stating that there was no security threat to the team.
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Animul Islam and a group of BCB directors visited the Bangladesh sports advisor Asif Nazrul’s house on Thursday night to discuss the World Cup issue, India Today has learnt.
Nazrul, who has made multiple inflammatory remarks against India, will meet the Bangladesh cricketers at 3 pm local time to take their opinion on T20 World Cup participation.
