I promise you will be on the floor: SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen warns fan over filming family
Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Heinrich Klaasen found himself at the centre of attention after a video of him warning a fan for filming his family went viral on social media. The South African cricketer appeared visibly irritated in the clip and was seen firmly asking the individual to stop recording and respect his privacy before the situation escalated further.
Klaasen, who is known to be extremely protective of his personal space and family time, has recently stepped away from international cricket commitments to prioritise life away from the game following his retirement from the international arena.
In the widely circulated video, Klaasen is first heard issuing a clear warning: “Listen to me very carefully. Don’t do it, OK. I said to you, no, please leave. Thank you very much, but don’t take a photo.”
He then raises his tone further as the fan continues to record with camera facing down, “If I turn around and you take a photo of me and my family, I promise you we’ll be on the floor. OK, just turn around and walk away, please.”
As the exchange continues and the fan moves away from him while continuing to have his camera on, Klaasen reiterates his stance more firmly, saying, “Oh, listen to me very carefully. Stop it. OK. I said to you no photos. This is my family. OK. So put your camera away.”
PLAYER’S PRIVACY UNDER SCANNER?
The incident has triggered a strong reaction online, with fans and followers coming in support of Klaasen over the non-consensual filming of him and his family. They criticised the fan following in the country with people forgetting the concept of boundaries and privacy – especially when athletes are spending private time with their families.
The video continues to spread across platforms, reigniting discussions about player privacy, the increasing presence of cameras in public spaces, and the fine line between fan enthusiasm and intrusion into personal lives.
Meanwhile, Klaasen continues to rain thunder on bowlers in the ongoing Indian Premier League season scoring 414 runs in nine innings at an average of 59.14. While his strike rate has come under scrutiny, Klaasen remained least bothered about it as he continues to help his team rise the points table. He currently is striking at 157.41,while being second on the Orange cap list, behind teammate Abhishek Sharma.
He will be next in action when SRH hosts Kolkata Knight Riders at the Uppal Stadium on Sunday, May 3.
