Cricket rarely disappoints when it comes to comedy, and Ishan Kishan produced one of the funniest moments of India’s Zimbabwe tour with a run-out blunder that left fans in stitches.

The bizarre incident unfolded on the penultimate ball of Ravi Bishnoi’s 15th over during Zimbabwe’s run chase in the second T20I in Harare on Saturday. Tadiwanashe Marumani nudged the ball to deep backward point for a single, but what followed looked straight out of a comedy sketch.

Marumani had absolutely no interest in a second run and desperately waved his bat and arms at partner Newman Nyamhuri, who was already charging down the pitch. Within seconds, both Zimbabwe batters found themselves stranded at the bowler’s end, leaving the striker’s crease completely vacant.

With the throw safely in his gloves, Kishan appeared to have the simplest run-out of his career on offer. Except… he didn’t realise it.

Instead of whipping off the bails or firing the ball to Bishnoi, the wicketkeeper casually rolled an underarm throw that barely travelled halfway down the pitch. By the time he realised the chaos unfolding in front of him, the opportunity had vanished.

Kishan could only put his hand on his head with an expression that said it all: “Oops, I completely missed that!” The hilarious blooper quickly went viral on social media, with fans hailing it as one of the funniest moments of the series.

Fortunately for Kishan, his forgettable moment behind the stumps came after he had already made a match-winning impact with the bat.

The left-hander was in sublime touch, smashing 81 off just 44 deliveries, an innings studded with nine fours and two sixes. Batting at No. 3, he shared a 94-run partnership with Tilak Varma, who remained unbeaten on 60, as India posted an imposing 219/5.

Zimbabwe’s chase never gathered momentum despite a brisk start from Brian Bennett. Abhishek Sharma claimed three wickets, while Yash Thakur and Prince Yadav picked up two apiece as the hosts were bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs.

India sealed a commanding 90-run victory, ensuring Kishan’s comic fielding lapse became little more than a viral talking point rather than a costly mistake.

It wasn’t the cleanest piece of wicketkeeping you’ll ever see, but it was certainly one of the most entertaining.
