UFC fighter Allan Nascimento dies at 34 after apparent heart attack
Brazilian mixed martial artist Allan Nascimento has died at the age of 34 after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep, the UFC confirmed on Monday.
Nascimento, who had been part of the UFC since 2021, was reportedly found unresponsive on Monday morning. The promotion said emergency medical personnel responded to the incident, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This morning, Monday, August 3rd, our beloved fighter and exemplary flyweight, Allan Nascimento, was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep.
“Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Nascimento’s death has sent shockwaves through the MMA community. The Brazilian had built a reputation as a technically gifted flyweight and was a respected member of the renowned Chute Boxe Diego Lima gym in Brazil.
TRIBUTES POUR IN FOR BRAZILIAN FIGHTER
Nascimento made his UFC debut in 2021 and went on to compile a 4-2 record inside the Octagon. His final appearance came in June, when he suffered a split-decision defeat to Mitch Raposo. Across his professional MMA career, he finished with 22 wins and seven losses.
Training under coach Diego Lima, Nascimento shared the mats with several top Brazilian fighters, including former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and UFC lightweight Elves Brener.
His gym, Chute Boxe Diego Lima, paid an emotional tribute on social media, remembering him as much for his character as his achievements inside the cage.
“We lost a warrior, a friend, a dedicated competitor and an extraordinary human being.
“Allan inspired on and off the mats with his determination, humility, respect and fighting spirit. Your presence will be missed immeasurably. Rest in peace, Allan. Your name, your story and your legacy will live forever.”
The UFC also honoured Nascimento’s contribution to the sport, describing him as a “skilled competitor and consummate professional” during his six-fight stint with the promotion.
Nascimento is survived by his family, friends and teammates, who have continued to receive an outpouring of condolences from across the mixed martial arts world.
