Preparation has been excellent – The skipper of Australia, Pat Cummins, when asked about returning to the side and leading it again after such a long gap, says it’s been a long time coming, adding that preparation has been excellent since the last Test, played some eight months ago. On how difficult selection was this time, he admits it’s always tough, with Boland and Josh Inglis both missing out. Adds that Boland, in particular, makes way now that the bigger names are back in the fold. About facing Bangladesh at home after such a long gap, he calls it a tricky challenge, pointing out that against sides like India or England there’s a wealth of data to lean on given how often those teams meet. Whereas here, he notes, it’s much more about reading conditions and adapting on the fly without that same familiarity. On playing in Darwin, he says it’s right up there for him, having spent the last five days in the city already, thoroughly enjoying the relaxed pace of things. He adds that the weather has been hot, and he expects it to be a good week overall.
