Panun Kashmir stages hunger strike, demands genocide law

JAMMU: A displaced Kashmiri Pandit organisation Saturday observed a day-long hunger strike demanding the creation of a separate homeland in the valley for their rehabilitation and enactment of a genocide law.Panun Kashmir chairperson Tito Ganju said India, as a signatory to the UN Genocide Convention, was obligated to enact a dedicated law dealing with genocide.The organisation’s demands included official recognition of the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits, passage of a Genocide Bill, creating a separate Union Territory as a secure homeland in the valley, creation of 15,000 jobs in central govt departments for unemployed and over-aged youth, and enhancement of ex gratia assistance and monthly relief.
