Amid the tension along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) following an attack on Army jawans by the Chinese soldiers in Ladakh, the Border Security Force, meanwhile, has stepped up vigil along the international border (IB) with Pakistan in Jammu region. The BSF has strengthened the border security grid in order to foil any misadventure by Pakistan.

On June 20, a Pakistani drone carrying a consignment of weapons was shot down by the alert BSF personnel along the IB in Jammu’s Kathua district. The consignment of weapons that was recovered included one U.S made rifle, 7 grenades and 2 magazines. The weapons which were smuggled by Pakistan using a hexacopter were meant for terrorists.

Since this incident, the BSF is on heightened alert to prevent such attempts by Pakistan to smuggle weapons for terrorists. The BSF personnel have intensified patrolling in the border areas to thwart any infiltration attempts by Pakistani terrorists.

Meanwhile, IG BSF Jammu Frontier NS Jamwal & J&K DGP Dilbag Singh visited the border areas in Samba district on Monday. They were also accompanied by senior officials from the BSF, police and civil administration.

On Tuesday, J&K DGP Singh, while speaking to journalists during his visit to Poonch district, said that Pakistan was desperately trying to push terrorists to create mayhem in J&K. “Pakistan’s terror launch pads are active on the other side of the LoC. Pakistan wants to infiltrate a large number of terrorists into J&K. But our security forces have foiled their many infiltration bids in the recent past.

We will continue to foil such attempts in future also. Antiterror operations are successfully going on in Kashmir valley. Forty eight terrorists have been eliminated in last one month. Over 120 terrorists have been neutralised so far this year,” Singh added.

India Today TV crew visited the international border in RS Pura sector to understand the situation there. The BSF personnel maintained a strict vigil to thwart the nefarious designs of Pakistan.
