A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in broad day light in Central Mumbai on Wednesday. The deceased identified as Taushik Narayan was a resident of Subhash Nagar locality in Maharashtra’s Dharavi.

According to police, Narayan ran a fruit shop in Dharavi with his family members. On Wednesday, at around 1:30 pm, three unidentified persons attacked him in the locality close to his residence. The assailants attacked him using knives and stabbed him on his collar bone and hands, injuring him seriously. Before the onlookers could realise what had happened, the accused trio fled from the spot.

People rushed Narayan to Sion Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Dharavi police officials said that Narayan died after organ failure due to heavy loss of blood.

Police have registered a case of murder against the three unidentified accused.

“Prima facie investigations suggest that the accused are also residents of the same locality but the reason behind the murder is not known yet. We are questioning several people in connection with the case and soon there will be a a breakthrough,” a senior police officer privy to investigation said.
