The ICC has confirmed the panel of match officials for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place from October 3 to 20 in the United Arab Emirates. Ten umpires and three match referees, all women, will oversee the ninth edition of the tournament. This move showcased the ICC’s commitment to promote female representation in cricket officiating. The panel includes highly experienced officials, with Claire Polosak set to umpire her fifth Women’s T20 World Cup. Kim Cotton and Jacqueline Williams, who officiated the final in Cape Town earlier this year, will both make their fourth World Cup appearances.

Sue Redfern, the TV umpire for the 2023 final, is also returning for her fourth World Cup. New to the lineup is Zimbabwe’s Sarah Dambanevana, who will be making her debut at the prestigious event. The match referees’ team will feature GS Lakshmi, who began her refereeing career in 2012 and officiated the 2023 final. She will be joined by Shandre Fritz and Michell Pereira, both officiating in their second Women’s T20 World Cup.

An all-female line up of match officials

Sean Easey, ICC Senior Manager for Umpires and Referees, expressed the organisation’s pride in appointing an all-female lineup. He noted that these officials were selected based on their excellent recent performances in bilateral and other international matches.

“The ICC is proud to be contributing to the advancement of women in our sport. To be announcing this all-female lineup of match officials for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is wonderful,” Sean said.

“This group, selected as the most deserving umpires for this event following their recent form in bilateral and other cricket, are some of the very best from around the world.

“We are confident that they will do a great job at this event. I wish them the best of luck as they oversee the world’s top women’s cricketers in what will be an exciting tournament for all involved.”

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 23 matches played across Dubai and Sharjah, with ten teams competing for the title.
