Arjun Tendulkar doesn’t dream of playing for India
Lucknow Super Giants’ Arjun Tendulkar says he is focused on giving his best to the game and staying true to his own journey, rather than being driven by ambitions of playing for India.
During an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, the left-hander was asked to choose what he would like to be known for in the next five years: playing for India, becoming an Indian Premier League star, or simply being someone who lives his life with contentment while giving his all to the game.
“The last one,” Arjun replied. “Being happy within myself, without hurting or causing harm to others, and living an honest life.”
Son of the Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun Tendulkar has spent much of his cricketing career under his father’s shadow. However, with Lucknow Super Giants, he aims to begin a new chapter in IPL 2026.
Arjun first entered the IPL when he was signed by the Mumbai Indians in 2021, where he remained until last season. With limited opportunities at MI, he now hopes to contribute more at his new franchise.
When asked whether he should have received more chances at Mumbai despite performing well with the ball, Arjun responded candidly, “Who doesn’t feel that? No one wants to sit on the bench. But we want to work hard and perform when we get an opportunity.”
NOT A FAN OF IMPACT PLAYER RULE
During the interaction, Arjun also shared his thoughts on the much-debated Impact Player rule in the IPL. He believes that cricket is a game of 11 players and that is how it should be played.
“Pick 11 and play. Because in international T20s and in any other league, there is no Impact Player. So, I am personally against the Impact Player rule,” he said.
Arjun will have a chance to show his new franchise what he brings to the table when they open their IPL 2026 campaign against Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
