Bangladesh fan Tiger Robi clears air around his hospitalisation in Kanpur Test
Bangladesh cricket super fan, Tiger Robi, has confirmed that his urgent hospitalization on September 27 at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur was due to health issues, bringing an end to widespread speculation. On Day 1 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh, Robi’s condition deteriorated due to dehydration, leading to his collapse. While many rumors circulated regarding the cause of his illness, Robi cleared the air by stating that his health condition, aggravated by the intense heat and dehydration, was the reason for his sudden medical emergency.
Robi expressed his gratitude to the Kanpur police for their quick response and assistance. He thanked the officers for escorting him to the hospital and ensuring he received timely treatment. Reports also emerged claiming Robi had been beaten by locals at the stadium, but police officials denied these allegations, attributing his hospitalisation solely to health-related causes.
“I fell ill and the police brought me to the hospital and got me treated. Now I am feeling much better. My name is Robi and I have come from Bangladesh,” Robi said.
Robi has been a constant presence throughout Bangladesh’s tour of India, having attended the first Test in Chennai and continuing to cheer for his team despite the setback.
Earlier in the day, Robi was seen passionately waving the Bangladesh flag during the morning session before the heat and dehydration took a toll on him. His support for the team has been widely appreciated, especially as Bangladesh look to bounce back from their heavy defeat in the first Test.
On the field, Bangladesh made a cautious start after being asked to bat on a green-tinged pitch.
