Can I open? Chahal’s cheeky PBKS question gets hilarious reply from Preity Zinta
Yuzvendra Chahal had a hilarious request to Preity Zinta, asking him to make the Punjab Kings opener for one match in the IPL 2026 season. However, the Punjab owner gave a witty response to him regarding the matter.
Zinta was engaging in a fan interaction on the social media platform X, where she answered a lot of queries from her supporters. With PBKS flying high in the IPL this season, a lot of questions were about the franchise and the players and Zinta answered them happily.
But then, Chahal sneaked in as a fan asking if he could open in one of the games for PBKS.
“Mam ek match mein open batting karne ka chance mil jaaye toh, (Ma’am, if I can get a chance to open the batting in one of the matches.),” said Chahal on X.
However, it was Zinta’s response that stole the show in the end. The PBKS owner told the leg-spinner that he can open the batting in any match after the IPL is over and the current openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya won’t mind at all.
“For sure Yuzi. Anything for you. IPL Khatam hone do, uske baad whichever match you like. I’m sure Prabh & Priyansh won’t mind then,” said Zinta in response to Chahal.
PBKS OPENERS IN SCINTILLATING FORM
Both Prabhsimran and Priyansh have been in sensational form for PBKS this season, continuing from where they left off in IPL 2025. Prabhsimran has scored 287 runs in seven matches at an average of 57.4 and a strike-rate of 192.61.
Priyansh has 254 runs from six matches at an average of 42.33 and a strike-rate of 249.01. The duo came together and got 126 runs off 41 deliveries during their record chase against DC at the Arun Jaitley stadium on April 25.
Chahal has had a lukewarm first half of the season, getting only four wickets from the seven matches he has played so far. PBKS will be taking on RR in their next game in Mullanpur on April 28.
