Lockdown to be imposed in Dehradun on Saturdays, Sundays

In view of increasing COVID-19 positive cases, lockdown will be imposed in Dehradun on Saturdays and Sundays, said Dehradun District Magistrate. “Due to the continuous increase of coronavirus cases, there will be a lockdown in Dehradun for 48 hours. Essential services to remain exempted from the lockdown,” said district magistrate, Ashish Kumar Srivastav. A total of 37 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Uttarakhand taking the cumulative count of coronavirus cases in the state to 1,692 on Friday.

Tirupati Govinda Raja Swami temple shut after TTD employee tests COVID-19 positive

An employee of the Tirupati Govinda Raja Swami temple has tested positive for COVID-19, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) confirmed. As a result, devotees will not be allowed for darsanams for two days inside the temple. The temple will be sanitized for two days as per the COVID-19 protocol and will be opened for darsanams of the devotees from Sunday onwards.

FIR against college in Pune for conducting exams amid lockdown

An FIR has been registered against a college in Talegaon Dabhade of Pune district for holding a class 11 examination by calling students to the college despite restrictions imposed in view of the coronavirus pandemic. The exams were conducted at a school for students studying in class 11th commerce of the school run by Snehavardhan education trust. Police, upon receiving information about the exam, reached the spot and found 27 students appearing for an exam. A case has been registered against 14 members of education trust in this connection.
