FIFA uses rare rule to pause Balogun's ban before USA’s last 16 clash vs Belgium
USA striker Folarin Balogun will be available for the co-hosts’ USA in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 clash against Belgium on Monday, July 6 at Seattle Stadium, after an update from FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee clarified his status. The 25-year-old New York-born forward, who has already scored three goals in the tournament, remains a key figure for the Stars & Stripes heading into the knockout stage.
“In line with article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the implementation of the match suspension is suspended for a probationary period of one year,” FIFA said in a statement.
