Gyanvapi row: Muslim side must fix ‘historic’ wrong, says CM Yogi Adityanath | Varanasi News – Times of India
In an interview to the news agency ANI, the UP CM said, “Inside Gyanvapi, there are deity statues, and Hindus did not place them there.
If we call it a mosque, there will be a dispute. The government wants a resolution to the Gyanvapi dispute.”
Yogi added that there has been a “historical mistake” by the Muslim side, and thus, they should step forward for its resolution.
Furthermore, he questioned, “If Gyanvapi is a mosque, then what was a trident doing there?”
The UP CM’s interview comes even as the Allahabad high court is set to deliver a verdict on a plea against a Varanasi district court order directing the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey to determine if the Gyanvapi mosque was built upon a temple.
The high court has reserved its order till August 3.
