Irfan Pathan has claimed that Test cricket will flourish if every team has a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah after his fantastic performance in the series against South Africa.

Bumrah has made a fantastic return to international cricket after a lengthy layoff. The pacer was one of India’s stars during their World Cup 2023 campaign as he picked up 20 wickets as India reached the final of the tournament.

On his return to red-ball cricket, Bumrah showcased a remarkable performance in the test series against South Africa. As India’s ‘Player of the Series,’ Bumrah took an impressive 12 wickets across two matches, including a standout six-wicket haul for 61 runs in one innings.

His prowess contributed significantly to India’s historic win, which was completed in a record-breaking 642 balls, marking the fastest Test victory in history. Bumrah’s exceptional bowling, led him to become the leading wicket-taker in the series.

Speaking to Star Sports, Pathan claimed that Bumrah is a great ambassador for bowling, especially after focusing on red-ball cricket even after surgery. The former all-rounder claimed that Test cricket would flourish if every country had a bowler like Bumrah.

“If you are prioritizing red-ball cricket even after surgery, you won’t get a bigger brand ambassador than him in bowling. If every country gets a bowler like Jasprit Bumrah, Test cricket will keep flourishing,” said Pathan.

Speaking to Star Sports, Pathan would heap praise on Bumrah’s attitude, especially after his recovery from back surgery. The former all-rounder hailed the Indian pacer as an inspiration not just to Indian cricket but also for world cricket.

“I have fallen in love with Jasprit Bumrah’s attitude, especially the way he has bowled after back surgery. He is not only an inspiration for Indian cricket but also for world cricket,” said Pathan.
