IND vs BAN: Suresh Raina warns India not to take Bangladesh lightly
Former India batter Suresh Raina has warned Rohit Sharma’s side that they should not be taking Bangladesh lightly in their 2-match Test series. Speaking to news agency PTI, Raina reminded that Bangladesh have recently defeated Pakistan away from home and should be treated with respect.
The Bangladesh side have two-three quality spinners on their side. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan were key members of the Bangladesh side in their historic series vs Pakistan. Raina believed that those players will do well in India, given that they play in similar kinds of pitches back at home.
“Bangladesh know the conditions very well. India play a lot of matches against them. They also have two spinners who are very good. We have players who bat very well against spin. Rohit, Virat and KL can do very well against spin. Hope that there will be no rain and it will be an entertaining contest,” Raina told PTI in an interview.
“You cannot take Bangladesh lightly, because they have just won against Pakistan,” Raina further added.

The Bangladesh side arrived in India four days ahead of the first Test match in Chennai. Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurushinga said that India would be the best challenge for the side to know where they actually stand in the Test format. Bangladesh, in the recent past, done well at home and with the Pakistan victory have begun to travel better as well.
“Against India, that’s the best challenge you get nowadays in cricket. So playing against the best always gives you the perception of where you stand. As well as looking forward to, as sportsmen, we are looking forward to that challenge,” the Bangladesh coach said ahead of the match.
India’s first Test match against Bangladesh begins on September 19, Thursday.
