Uttar Pradesh state capital Lucknow is witnessing severe flooding after two decades as the water level of the Gomti River continues to rise. Landmark locations across the city, including Hanumant Dham, the Gomti Nagar riverfront, Prayag Sthal, and Faizullaganj, have been partially submerged. At Hanumant Dham, the temple domes, a ride, and nearby vehicles were inundated, prompting authorities to close the area for prayers. The Gomti Nagar riverfront has also been shut for visitors due to the alarming water levels. Lucknow Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar stated that the civic body and district administration have deployed over 70 boats, set up temporary and permanent shelter homes, and organised medical camps. SDRF and NDRF teams have been mobilised to evacuate residents who are stranded, while food, medicines, and ration supplies are being delivered by boat to those choosing to remain on upper floors. A round-the-clock control room has been established to respond to distress calls within one to two hours.
