NEW DELHI: While speaking on the 86th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India has been successful in bringing back several invaluable artifacts. The Prime Minister also talked about women leading in every fields, besides lauding Indian scientists for Covid-19 vaccines and stressing on the significance of Indian Ayurveda, among other topics.
“Many idols were stolen and were taken out of India in the past. Sometimes in this country, at times in another, these were sold. It’s our responsibility to bring home these idols. These embody a part of the soul and faith of India,”
‘200 idols brought back to India since 2014’
“Till 2013, nearly 13 idols had been brought back to India. But, in the last seven years, India has successfully brought back more than 200 precious idols. Several countries have helped India bring back idols and artefacts to the country,” PM Modi said.
‘Indian music fascinates all’
“Indian music fascinates everyone. I recall, a few years ago, singers-musicians from more than 150 countries, in their respective countries and costumes, made a beautiful presentation of ‘Vaishnav Jan’, the beloved bhajan of Mahatma Gandhi,” he added.
The Prime Minister also mentioned Kili Paul and Neema, who have created ripples on social media by lip-syncing several Indian songs.
“Kili and Neema from Tanzania have shown passion for Indian music. They paid tribute to Lata Didi [Mangeshkar], sang our national anthem. I am grateful to them. How about our children doing the same?… As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the youth can make videos on popular songs in their own languages,” he said.
We must be proud of our diverse languages: PM
The Prime Minister, during his radio broadcast, said India is so rich in terms of languages that there can be no comparison, adding that we must be proud of our diverse languages.
“Even after 75 years of Independence, some people face mental dilemmas and have reservations with regard to their language, dress, food and drink. It is not like this anywhere else in the world. We should speak out mother tongue with pride,” PM Modi said.
“From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Kutch to Kohima, there are hundreds of languages, thousands of dialects which are different from each other, but are mutually integrated… Many languages, one expression,” the Prime Minister said.
‘Ex-Kenyan PM professed gratitude to Ayurveda practitioners’
PM Modi also recalled an interaction with former Prime Minister of Kenya, Raila Odinga. “The former PM professed his sincere gratitude to Indian Ayurveda practitioners for restoring his daughter’s eyesight. He also pledged his support to take the practice of Ayurveda to Kenya,” he recalled.
The Prime Minister also said that a lot of attention has been paid to the promotion of Ayurveda in the country. “The formation of the ministry of Ayush has further strengthened our resolve to popularise our traditional methods of medicine and health,” he also said.
Women reaching new heights, PM says
In his address, PM Modi also said that from Parliament to Panchayat, women are reaching new heights in different fields.
“International Women’s Day is celebrated worldwide on March 8. There are many examples of the courage, skill, and talent that women have. Whether it is ‘Skill India’, SHGs, small or big industries, women have taken the lead everywhere,” PM Modi said on Sunday.
The Prime Minister said we must focus on developing a scientific temperament among children.
PM pays tributes
“Today [February 27] is ‘Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Divas’. This day is dedicated to Marathi Kaviraj, Vishnu Vaman Shirvadkar ji,” PM Modi mentioned.
“Tomorrow [February 28] is ‘National Science Day’, also known for the discovery of Raman Effect. Along with CV Raman ji, I pay my respectful tribute to all the scientists who have contributed significantly in enriching our scientific journey: PM Modi
The Prime Minister lauded efforts of Indian scientists in manufacturing made-in-India Covid-19 vaccines.
PM talks about missions and initiatives
“Public participation and collective efforts play significant role in society. One such mass movement named ‘Mission Jal Thal’ is under way in Srinagar. It is a praiseworthy effort to clean the waterbodies, focused on ‘Kushal Saar’ and ‘Gil Saar’,” he said.
“Use of cloth bags are being promoted in Visakhapatnam instead of polythene ones under the ‘Clean India’ campaign. People are also campaigning against single-use plastic products and also spreading awareness to segregate waste at home,” the Prime Minister mentioned.
Towards the end of his address, PM Modi said, “Festivals are approaching, with Shivratri, Holi in the pipeline… I urge everyone to abide by ‘Vocal for Local’ and celebrate festivals by purchasing from local markets. Celebrate these festivals with fervour but don’t forget to stay cautious too,”
