Ishan Kishan will be turning up for a new franchise from the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League as the young wicketkeeper-batter was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 11.25, 26% less than his Rs 15.25 crore by Mumbai Indians in the 2022 auction.
Mumbai Indians started the bidding for Kishan at his pace price of Rs 2 crore but didn’t go beyond Rs 3.20 crore. Wicketkeeper-batter was signed by Mumbai Indians for Rs 15.25 crore at the 2022 IPL mega auction and the youngster has been with them since then.He didn’t feature in their five retentions which were announced last month as the franchise decided to go ahead with Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma as their five picks.
An explosive top-order bat, Ishan has been playing in the league since the 2016 edition and his best year came in the 2020 edition where he scored 516 runs at a very healthy average of 57.33. The last 12 months have seen the youngster lose his central contract and spot in India teams but he underwent the grind in domestic circuit and was added to the India A squad for the recent two games vs Australia A. Prior to that, Kishan featured in domestic games for Jharkhand and also played the IPL for Mumbai Indians.
