JCO, 3 soldiers hurt in accidental blast along LoC in Jammu & Kashmir’s Rajouri
JAMMU: Four Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer and three jawans, were injured in an accidental landmine blast while patrolling near the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector in J&K’s Rajouri district Tuesday.“The explosion was caused by the sudden activation of a landmine during an area domination exercise in the forward area of Kalal,” an official said, adding that the personnel were immediately evacuated to a hospital.Forward areas along the LoC are dotted with landmines as part of the anti-infiltration security grid. Rains sometimes wash away and displace these mines, resulting in such mishaps.Tuesday’s blast came four days after two Army personnel from 12 Bihar Regiment were severely wounded in an accidental grenade explosion during a training exercise near the LoC in J&K’s Poonch district on June 12. Two days before this, two 8RR soldiers from Maharashtra died in yet another accidental blast near the LoC in Kamalkote area of Uri, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on June 10.
