PATNA: JD(U) dismissed on Saturday a growing demand from a section in BJP that the party should have its own CM in Bihar, saying it would not compromise on Nitish Kumar’s leadership at any cost. “Nitish is the CM and will continue to hold the post. We will not compromise on this under any circumstances,” JD(U) national parliamentary board chairman and former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha said.
JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh aka Lalan Singh reaffirmed the point. “Nitish was chosen by the people of Bihar as their chief minister. He is not holding the chair on the favour of anyone.”
Reiterating JD(U)’s demand for a caste-based census, Singh said the Centre should take necessary steps to hold the caste-wise enumeration of people during the forthcoming census. Kushwaha said JD(U) will continue to work to remove inequality from society.
