NEW DELHI: Jharkhand CM Champai Soren gave a go-ahead for caste-based survey on Sunday, on lines of Bihar. The CM has reportedly directed the personnel department to prepare a draft (SoP for conducting the survey) and place it before the cabinet for approval.
CM Soren asked officials to prepare draft of caste-based survey and place it before cabinet for nod.An official told PTI, “If everything goes according to plan, Jharkhand caste survey will begin after Lok Sabha polls.
Indicating the survey, CM Soren, earlier in the day, posted on X, “Jiski Jitni Sankhya Bhari, Uski Utni Hissedari (Bigger the population, bigger the share). Jharkhand is ready.”

Vinay Kumar Choubey, principal secretary to the CM, told PTI, “The personnel department will prepare a standard operating procedure (SOP) to conduct the survey in Jharkhand. It will be placed before the cabinet for approval.”
The caste survey will follow the model of neighboring Bihar, where data collection took place from January 7 to October 2 of the previous year.
