What Is The Best Way To Store Kamal Kakdi Ka Achaar?

Just like any other pickle, the best way to store this achaar is an air-tight container. Any exposure to moisture can end up ruining the achaar. To extend its shelf life, make sure to keep it in a cool and dark place, away from the sunlight. Additionally, you can sterilise the container before adding the achaar to it. Just fill it with some warm water and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Another thing that you could do is add some oil on top of the achaar once you transfer it to the container. This helps create an additional barrier between the achaar and the air.

Is Kamal Kakdi Ka Achaar Healthy?

Kamal kakdi (lotus stem) achar is considered healthy as it is rich in fibre and potassium. Additionally, it can also aid in digestion and regulating blood pressure levels. However, to reap the benefits of this achaar, it’s best to reduce the quantity of oil and salt used in it.

Kamal Kakdi Ka Achaar: How To Make Kamal Kakdi Ka Achaar

To make this achaar, first, we need to wash the lotus stem nicely. Strain the water and cut into small pieces. Boil some water in a pan and add the lotus stem slices to it. Allow them to boil for 4-5 minutes or until they turn tender. Once done, turn off the flame and drain the water.

Put the lotus stem slices on a cloth and allow them to dry for a few hours. (Make sure there’s no moisture left). Now, we need to prepare the masala. For this, add carom seeds, black pepper, and star anise in a mixer grinder to form a coarse powder.

Next, heat some oil in a pan set on low-medium flame and add the remaining carom seeds, star anise, and hing. Roast well and turn off the flame. Finally, add the sliced lotus stems and mix well. Once the pickle cools down, add lemon juice and store in an air-tight container. Kamal kakdi ka achaar is ready!
