LSG vs MI: Hardik Pandya scripts history, breaks Anil Kumble’s 16-year-old record

Hardik Pandya has become the first captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to take a five-wicket haul. Hardik broke Anil Kumble’s 16-year-old record for best figures by a captain in IPL history. Playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in their IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Hardik had figures of 4-0-36-5.
Kumble held the record for 16 years after he had figures of 4-0-16-4 while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their clash against Deccan Chargers back in May 2009 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Kumble also had figures of 3.3-0-16-4 for RCB against the Chargers in the IPL 2010 match at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
