Malaika Arora spoke to India Today Television about the importance of Yoga for her wellbeing.

Malaika Arora is dedicated to fitness, and a look at her Instagram page will confirm that. The actress, a single mother, feels that Yoga helped her find inner peace at a time when she needed it the most.

In a chat with India Today Television, Malaika spoke about holistic wellbeing of the mind and the body, and finding inner peace, and how Yoga helped her do that. She also listed Yoga as the secret to her youth – well, Yoga and her genes.

On the importance of staying positive

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is a tragedy and people are reeling from it. And I cannot comment on that, because it is not my place. But I can say that, at the end of the day, when we have a fever we take medication to sort it. Similarly, mental illness, which hinders your wellbeing, has to treated as well. Whether it is through yoga or medication, exercise or talking, but it needs to be treated.

Everyone has extreme highs and lows, but you have to find the positivity within. So that you can wake up and face the day. It’s not easy, but you have to. I’m a woman, a single mother, I’m enjoying myself, and finding the balance.

On the secret to her youth

Well, Yoga and good genes. Yoga has brought about immense change and system in my life. But you may have all these resources but at the end of the day, it is about how you incorporate it into your lives. I have let it infiltrate and better my life, today I can be in a calmer and happier space where I can take on anything in life. Yoga was introduced to me at a time when I needed positivity and it helped me.

International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 every year.
