Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels legendary fast bowler James Anderson could well end up being at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. Notably, Anderson, who announced his retirement earlier this year, registered himself for the first time for the IPL 2025 auction.

The seamer has scalped 41 wickets from 44 matches in his T20 career at an average of 32.14 and an economy of 8.47. According to Vaughan, the one team which could well be interested in buying Anderson is Chennai Super Kings as they will be after someone who can swing the ball in the first few overs.

“You mention James Anderson, I would not be surprised if Jimmy Anderson ends up at Chennai Super Kings. You heard it here first. They are a team that like someone who can swing it in the first few overs. They had a swinger, be it Shardul Thakur. It would not surprise me if Jimmy Anderson ends up at Chennai,” said Vaughan on Club Prairie Fire Podcast.

I’ve got more to offer: James Anderson

Recently, Anderson expressed his wish of playing cricket again as he feels he has got a lot left in him to offer.

“That is the whole point of going in the auction, I think, I want to play cricket again. Whether I get picked up or not is a different matter. There is definitely a feeling inside of me that I’ve got more to offer, in some shape or form. So, however long down the line that might be, in whatever capacity that might be I’m not sure yet,” Anderson was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

Anderson has 18 scalps to his name from 19 T20I matches at an average of 30.66 and an economy of 7.84. He also has 22 wickets from 24 matches in Vitality Blash. The veteran seamer has registered himself at a base price of INR 1.25 Crore, it remains to be seen how many franchises go after Anderson at the bidding event.
