Pat Cummins highlights Jasprit Bumrah’s threat ahead of India Test series

Australia Test captain Pat Cummins has talked about India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s threat ahead of the five-match Test series against them. Notably, India will take on Australia in a five-match Test series set to begin from November 22. India have won their last two series in Australia and one of the strong pillars of India’s win has been Bumrah.

The speedster has picked 32 wickets from seven matches in Australia at an average of 21.25 with one five-wicket haul to his name. Bumrah will once again bring his massive experience to the fore and will prove to be a vital cog for India in the upcoming series.

Acknowledging Bumrah’s bowling prowess ahead of the all-important series, Pat Cummins revealed that he’s a big fan of the India fast bowler and keeping him quiet will be a key for Australia to win the series.

“I’m a big fan of Bumrah. I think he’s a fantastic bowler. Hopefully, if we can keep him quiet, that is going to go a long way to winning the series. Alongside him, he has got some other guys who haven’t played a lot over here in Australia (that) we haven’t seen a lot of. We’ll see how it goes,” Cummins said on the Star Sports Press Room.

Cummins reflects on Australia’s recent dominance vs India

Further speaking ahead, Cummins reflected on Australia’s recent success against India in the World Test Championship Final and the ODI World Cup 2023.

“Fortunately, over the last few years, we’ve had some success in the World Test Championship final and (in) a different format for the ODI World Cup. We’ll be trying to lean on those memories. As I’m sure they’re trying to remember some of the previous series over here as well,” he said.

Australia haven’t been able to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy since 2014 when they last held it under the leadership of Michael Clarke and Smith. India have won the last two series in Australia and will be eager to complete a hat-trick of victories down under.
