NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the civil servants and said that their contribution has played a major role in India’s rapid development.
Speaking on the occasion of 16th Civil Services Day at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi, the Prime Minister said, “India’s rapid development would not have been possible without your (civil servants) active participation.”
PM Modi also appreciated the contribution of civil servants towards nation building and enthused them to work even harder.
“As an officer, your accomplishments will not be judged by your personal achievements; you will be judged by how people’s lives have been transformed through your work,” he said.
He further motivated them to keep serving the nation with the same zeal, especially during this crucial phase of Amrit Kaal.
“During the Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal, the Yuva Karmayogi Saathi civil servants will play the most important role for development of a New India” he told the officers at the event.
He further added that “no matter how good yojanas (initiatives) look on paper, the last-mile delivery is the deciding factor.”
“Despite coronavirus, India is the world’s 3rd biggest startup ecosystem,” he said.
PM Modi also said that the expectations of the global community from India have increased, and added that India’s time has come.
“The government is working with the vision to serve everyone by efficiently using their time and resources. Our mantra continues to be the nation first, citizen first,” he added.
He said that India is number one in digital payments and the country’s rural economy is transforming.
Addressing the Civil Services Day here in the national capital he said, “India is number one in digital payments. India is one of the countries where mobile data is the cheapest.”
