Marcus Rashford has revealed the reason behind him choosing to join Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United. Rashford moved to the midlands on loan on Sunday from United for the remainder of the season. The England forward hasn’t played since mid-December, but is ready to help his new side in various competitions.

Speaking to the club’s official website after his move was made official, Rashford said he chose Villa since the style of football was suitable for him and it would help him rediscover and improve as a player. The forward stressed that the deal is a short-term one and he wanted to make the most of his time with Unai Emery’s side.

Rashford said that he knows he can hurt teams when he is playing at his best and wants to help Villa create history.

“I’ve had to choose somewhere where I feel my style of football is suited to, and can help them and help me rediscover and improve as a player,” Rashford said.

“Obviously it’s only short-term I’m here so I want to make the most of my time here and the only way to do that is by using my attributes and my skill set to help the team.

“I know I can hurt teams. I know when I’m playing at my best, I can decide football games. That’ll be my only ambition and only goal, to help the team win more games, more points and hopefully create history.”

I’m experienced in the Champions League’

Joining Villa also means that Rashford will get to feature in the Champions League once again. The forward said that it would be a new feeling for him to play in the competition with Villa, but he can use the experience he had with United to help his new team.

“Obviously, (it’s) the biggest competition for a club to be involved in.”

“I’m sure it will be a new experience for me, playing for Villa in the Champions League. It’s always going to be a great moment, but the aims remain the same, to try and do our best to win it,” he told Villa’s website.

“I’ve played a fair amount of games in the Champions League, so I feel like I’m experienced and know how to handle those types of situations.”

Villa have made it to the Round Of 16 directly after finishing in the top 8.
