NEW DELHI: In a boost to India’s semiconductor capabilities and chip design, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday will inaugurate the ‘Semicon India 2023‘ in Gandhinagar.

The event will offer deep insight into cutting-edge technologies and innovations in chip-making and will bring together the biggest names in the semiconductor and technology industry.
During PM Modi‘s recent visit to the US, President Joe Biden announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art semiconductor assembly, testing, marking and packaging (ATMP) facility by Micron Technology Inc in India

Later, the Gujarat government signed an MoU worth Rs 22,500 crore with semiconductor chip giant Micron Technology to establish the ATMP facility at Sanand in the state.
Prior to the commencement of the main event, an exclusive exhibition was inaugurated by Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel on July 25.
The exhibition promised to offer visitors a comprehensive insight into the leading-edge technologies and innovations driving the semiconductor industry.
Companies such as Foxconn, Micron, AMD, IBM, Marvell, Vedanta, Lam Research, NXP Semiconductors, STMicroelectronics, Grantwood Technologies, Infineon Technologies, Applied Materials, and other prominent players in the sector will participate in the event, the government said.
According to a government statement, the programme will highlight investment opportunities in India’s semiconductor sector through an informative presentation and a stimulating panel discussion led by industry experts.
“The event promises to be a catalyst for the semiconductor industry’s progress through invaluable networking, technology demonstrations, and lucrative business prospects,” it said.
With a strong focus on innovation, participation and growth, the event holds immense significance in shaping the future of the semiconductor industry in both India and Gujarat.
