Rachin Ravindra gets brutally injured, leaves field bleeding profusely vs Pakistan

New Zealand’s opening batter Rachin Ravindra was badly injured while attempting a catch as he was hit straight on his face during the first match of the tri-series against Pakistan on Saturday, February 8 in Lahore. The incident took place in the 38th over of Pakistan’s innings, bowled by Michael Bracewell.
On the third ball of the over, Khushdil Shah swept Bracewell in the air towards deep square leg where Ravindra was stationed. The Kiwi opener failed to sight the ball properly under lights as it came towards him as it hit him straight in his face, leaving him badly injured.

Following the impact, Ravindra immediately fell on the ground and was seen bleeding profusely near his eye. He was immediately taken off the field as the team’s physio covered his entire face with a towel in a bid to stop the heavy bleeding.
Ravindra didn’t have a massive impact on the game as he got dismissed after getting off to a good start, scoring 25 (19). With the ball, he bowled three overs and gave away 14 runs. Meanwhile, New Zealand registered a comprehensive 78-run win over Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium.
Glenn Phillips stars for New Zealand with all-round show
After opting to bat first, New Zealand posted a massive score of 330/6 in their allotted 50 overs as Glenn Phillips (106* off 74) scored his maiden ODI hundred while Daryl Mitchell (81 off 84) and Kane Williamson (58 off 89) also made valuable contributions. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts with figures of 3/88 in ten overs, while Abrar Ahmed (2/42) also scalped two wickets.
In reply, Pakistan were bundled out for 252 in 47.5 overs as Mitchell Santner (3/41) and Matt Henry (3/53) picked three wickets each. Fakhar Zaman was the lone warrior for Pakistan with his breathtaking knock of 84 (69) comprising seven fours and four gigantic sixes. Phillips was adjudged Player of the Match for his century and figures of 1/18 in three overs, which included the prized scalp of Zaman.
