Rohit Sharma’s century before Champions Trophy big confidence booster: Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja said that Rohit Sharma’s stupendous century in the second ODI against England was a huge confidence booster for the skipper and the Indian team before the Champions Trophy. On Sunday, February 39, Rohit’s 32nd ODI hundred powered India to a 2–0 series win with a four-wicket triumph at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
IND vs ENG, 2nd ODI: Highlights
Rohit smacked 119 with 12 fours and seven sixes as India tracked down a stiff target of 305 with more than five overs to spare. Jadeja said that it was only a matter of time before the Indian captain returned to his very best. Rohit also won the Player of the Match award as India followed up their stupendous performance in the T20Is with a clinical showing in the 50-over format.
“Sometimes, it just takes one or two innings to turn things around. The good thing is that, before an important tournament like the Champions Trophy, scoring a hundred is a huge boost. It’s great for the team, and obviously, he himself knows his game well. There’s nothing much to think or discuss,” Jadeja said in the post-match press conference.

‘Domestic matches helped’
Jadeja also said that playing domestic matches has helped him get back in shape for the series. Jadeja took three wickets in Nagpur and followed it up with another three-wicket haul in Cuttack. The veteran came into the series after playing for Saurashtra in their Ranji Trophy matches against Assam and Delhi.
“Playing the domestic matches helped as the number of overs I sent down helped me get into rhythm. After almost two years I am playing ODIs and was trying bowl same lines and lengths as Test matches,” Jadeja added.
India will be looking for a clean-sweep when they face England in the third and final ODI on Wednesday, February 12 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India’s Champions Trophy journey starts on February 20 against Bangladesh.
