Rohit Sharma's poor form makes team India look unsettled: Kapil Dev

Legendary India all-rounder Kapil Dev has highlighted Rohit Sharma’s poor form as a major concern for India ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The India skipper has been going through a dismal run in recent times as he was once again dismissed cheaply for just 2 (7) in the first ODI against England on Thursday, February 6 in Nagpur.
Rohit has looked completely out of sorts at the crease with his scores in the last nine innings reading 0, 8, 18, 11, 3, 6, 10, 3, 9 and 2. Recently, Kapil Dev shared his thoughts on the India captain’s performance and said that the team looks unsettled due to his poor form.
“He (Rohit) is a big player. I hope he returns to form quickly. I will say good luck to the coach. It takes time to settle in. The whole country is looking forward to the side’s performance. In recent times, the side played well for some time. The team looks unsettled. When the captain’s form is poor, the team has problems,” Kapil said on the Cricket Adda YouTube channel.
Rohit could only score 164 runs from eight matches in India’s recent long Test season at an average of 10.93 with just one half-century. His captaincy also came under the scanner after the team’s back-to-back series losses against New Zealand and Australia. Hence, Rohit has been under massive pressure with his future also uncertain in the Test team.
He was even asked about his prolonged poor patch ahead of the first ODI vs England and questions were also raised about his future. The India skipper snapped back at the journalist, saying “what kind of question is that?”
Rohit was instrumental in giving explosive starts to India during the ODI World Cup 2023 with his aggressive batting. He would aim to play a similar role for the team in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 as well. However, before that, the India captain needs to find his rhythm back in the last two ODIs against England scheduled to be played on February 19 and 12 respectively.
