SA vs IND, 2nd T20I: India lost due to wet conditions, should not delve deep into the game, says Dale Steyn

South Africa chased down a revised target of 152 runs in the rain curtailed second innings which gave them better odds in the game. Steyn spoke on Star Sports after the game and said that India were unlucky. Steyn argued that India created a lot of chances but got played out as the ball grew wetter
“India bowled really well. They were unlucky at times. They had fielders in the right places. You saw having a second slip that showed you that the ball was doing a little bit. Um, but it’s the boundaries, you know, and and and these conditions when the field is a little bit wet and that little bit of dew, it’s not dew, but they’re in the rain comes down, it makes the ball a little bit skid on and everything, that does make batting a little bit easier,” Steyn said after the match.
It looked like an easy win for South Africa when Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram were hitting sixes at will in the first 8 overs of the match. The India bowlers fought back and picked three quick wickets, but that was not enough. Andile Phehlukwayo hit a big six over deep square leg in the 14th over of the match to seal the victory for the hosts.
Steyn said that India did not do a lot wrong and did not need to beat themselves up for the result.
“So at the end of the day, when you look back at an India probably got the wrong end of the stick. They lost the toss and then they had the ball in the more difficult conditions. It’s not a game that they can really delve deep into and say we lost it here, we lost it there,” concluded the legendary fast bowler.
