Sooraj Pancholi gets relief in the Jiah Khan suicide case after he gets acquitted by the special CBI court on Friday due to lack of evidence. The actor was charged with abetment.
Jiah then 24 was found hanging in her Juhu house on June 3, 2013 in suburban Mumbai. The Juhu police had arrested Pancholi on June 10, 2013. He remained in custody for almost a month till Bombay high court granted him bail on July 3.

Sooraj, in his final statement filed before the court, had claimed the investigation and chargesheet were false, adding that the prosecution witnesses testified against him at the behest of complainant Rabia Khan, police and CBI.

Special CBI Judge A S Sayyed while pronouncing the much awaited verdict said, due to paucity of evidence, you have been held not guilty. “You stand acquitted.”

Zarina Wahab was in tears and told TOI when asked what she had to say folding her hands and then wiping her eyes said , “I thank God”.
