NEW DELHI: Urging Interpol to speed up Red Corner notices against fugitives, PM Modi said here on Tuesday there could be no safe havens for the corrupt, terrorists, drug cartels, poaching gangs and organised criminals.
Inaugurating the 90th General Assembly of Interpol, Modi said there was need for the global community to work expeditiously to eliminate these safe havens where the corrupt find a way to park the proceeds of crime. His statement is significant considering Interpol secretary general Jurgen Stock’s remark on Monday regarding its “limitations” in issuing Red Corner Notices.

Over 750 such notices from India are active; around 200 of them are against fugitives like Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Shakeel and Hafiz Saeed.
