Former Indian speedster S Sreesanth has announced his retirement from first-class cricket. The 39-year-old Kerala pacer who returned to competitive cricket, after the BCCI reduced the ban on him for his alleged involvement in 2013 IPL, last year announced his retirement through his social media handles.
He thanked all the teammates he has played cricket with, the coaches under whom he has worked under and the fans who have supported him right throughout his cricketing career.

“It has been an honor to represent my family, my teammates and the people of India. And everyone who loves the game . With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from Indian domestic (first class and all formats ) cricket,” Sreesanth said on twitter.

“For the next generation of cricketers..I have chosen to end my first class cricket career. This decision is mine alone, and although I know this will not bring me happiness, it is the right and honorable action to take at this time in my life. I’ve cherished every moment,” the former India pacer added.

Sreesanth played 27 Tests for India claiming 87 wickets. He represented India in 53 ODI matches and claimed 75 wickets. He also played 10 T20 international matches and claimed seven wickets.
His last first-class match for Kerala was last month when he played the Ranji Trophy game after an eight-year hiatus against Meghalaya and picked up two wickets.
Sreesanth was a part of India’s two World Cup wins – the inaugural World T20 triumph in 2007 and the 2011 ODI World Cup win at the Wankhede.
