Stampede-like situation at New Delhi railway station; 15 people injured

NEW DELHI: At least 15 people were injured after a stampede-like situation occurred at the New Delhi Railway station on Saturday.
After the situation unfolded, a call was made from the New Delhi Railway station to the Delhi fire service after which four fire tenders rushed to the site.

CPRO Northern Railways, however, said there “is no stampede (at New Delhi Railway Station). It is only a rumour. Northern Railways was running two planned special trains (for Prayagraj)”.
DCP Railway KPS Malhotra also reflected on the incident, saying, “15 people had been injured in a stampede-like situation at New Delhi Railway Station. When Prayagraj Express was standing at platform no. 14, lots of public were present at the platform. Swatantrata Senani Express and Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani were delayed, and passengers of these trains were also present at platform no. 12,13 and 14.”
“As per the information, 1500 general tickets were sold – that’s why the crowd became uncontrollable. There was a stampede-like situation at platform no. 14 and near the escalator near platform no. 1,” he added.
This is a developing story…
