The Philadelphia Eagles clinched their second Super Bowl title with a commanding 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, crushing their hopes of becoming the first team to achieve a historic three-peat. The showdown at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 10 became an even grander spectacle with the presence of Argentine football icon Lionel Messi, who attended the event with his Inter Miami teammates.

Messi, accompanied by Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets, was spotted enjoying the high-stakes clash, adding to the star-studded guest list at one of the biggest sporting events of the year. Their attendance was first revealed through a social media post by Alba, capturing the excitement of the moment.

Super Bowl 2025: As it happened

From the very start, the Eagles asserted their dominance, capitalising on two early interceptions to race to a 24-0 lead by half-time. Their defensive unit put immense pressure on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, recording six sacks, forcing a fumble, and limiting Kansas City’s offence to just six points deep into the fourth quarter.

Despite the tough start, Mahomes fought back in the latter stages, finishing with 257 passing yards and three touchdowns. His 24-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Worthy late in the third quarter put the Chiefs on the board. In the dying minutes, he added a 7-yard touchdown to DeAndre Hopkins and a deep 50-yard pass to Worthy, but by then, the Eagles had already secured the trophy.

This victory marks the Eagles’ second Super Bowl championship, with their first triumph coming in 2018 when they outlasted the New England Patriots in a 41-33 thriller. The Chiefs, who had been chasing history with three consecutive titles, now saw their dominant run come to an end.
