WASHINGTON: Former US President Donald Trump alleged on Monday that the FBI “stole” his passports, while warning that that America will go up in flames unless he tells his agitated supporters to cool it.
The warning, widely seen in the liberal commentariat as intimidation, came even as the department of homeland security alerted local authorities about threats from extremists who have called for “civil war” and “armed rebellion” against the federal government for the raid on Trump’s Florida home to recover classified top secret documents.

“Wow. In the raid by the FBI or Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else. This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never before seen in our country. Third World,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social social media account, following it up with a warning through Fox News. “People are so angry at what is taking place. I will do whatever I can to help the country… because the temperature has to be brought down in the country. If it isn’t, terrible things are going to happen.” he warned.
“The country is in a very dangerous position. There is tremendous anger, like I’ve never seen before, over all of the scams, and this new one—years of scams and witch hunts, and now this,” he added.

While small groups of armed Trump supporters gathered in a few places over the weekend, there has been no large scale insurrection of the kind the former President is warning about, notwithstanding one case of a man who was killed in Cincinnati attempting to breach the local FBI office.
Still, federal authorities have alerted law enforcement personnel to be on guard, particularly after names of some of the raiding FBI party was “doxxed” — a term for revealing someone’s identity publicly with malicious intent.
If anything, even some of Trump’s hardcore supporters are starting to get unnerved by his inflammatory posture. One Fox News commentator criticized the Maga extremists’ “harmful rhetoric” against the FBI while suggesting “it would be great if he (Trump) called for an end to the violent rhetoric against federal law enforcement.” Another Trump-supporting Fox News host suggested it may be time to turn the page on the former President because the country was “exhausted” by his “constant battle” with the administration.
But Trump, having cranked up the rhetoric, is all set to get a political boost on Tuesday, with polls showing a MAGA candidate he has endorsed for a Congressional primary in Wyoming winning resoundingly against incumbent Liz Cheney, former vice-president Dick Cheney‘s daughter, and among the few anti-Trump Republicans who have stood up to the former President.
