JAMMU: Two people were killed while five others were injured in a fire that took place at a hotel in Sanasar — a tourist spot — in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Ramban district.
Taking cognizance, the district magistrate has ordered a magisterial probe.
“A fire broke out in Hotel Maa Shanti in Sanasar Tourist Resort on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday,” official sources said, adding, “In the incident, two people lost their lives while five people who were injured were evacuated to a nearby hospital.”
Official sources said, “One of the deceased has been identified as Raman Kumar, son of Ram Dass of Samba whereas the identity of the other is yet to be ascertained.”
“Those injured have been identified as Anil Kumar, son of Bansi Lal of Marmat Doda; Kishor Kumar, son of Sita Ram of Shiv Khori Reasi; Varinder Singh, son of Sudesh Kumar of Chenani; and Amit Sharma, son of Dwarka Lal of Marmat Doda.”
A fire tender was rushed to the spot which controlled the fire from spreading to other structures.
“Police have registered a case and taken up further investigations.”
Meanwhile, DM Mussarat Islam has ordered an inquiry into the incident with additional district magistrate (additional deputy commissioner Ramban) Harbans Lal Sharma as its head.
