VARANASI: The curtains came down on BJP’s election campaign on Saturday for the last phase of the UP assembly polls with PM Narendra Modi addressing a rally in Khajuri area, in Varanasi’s Sevapuri assembly constituency, where he lashed out at “pariwarwadis (dynasts)” for criticising projects undertaken in “national interest”. Addressing a gathering in Khajuri, Modi claimed that people in the past six phases osf the UP polls have voted in the national interest and proincumbency was evident. “It is the last public meeting in this election at the same ground from where people had blown the bugle of victory in the country in 2014. And it is for the first time in the past many decades that pro-incumbency is evident as people are showing commitment to retain the BJPled government…,” he said.

Indirectly attacking Samajwadi Party and Congress for their policies, he claimed that people were united in their desire for BJP’s doubleengine government. “People have rejected ‘pariwarwadis’ (dynasts), who patronised goonda, mafia elements and the corrupt. The account of those mafia elements who have started re-flexing their muscles will be closed after the results on March 10,” he added.
“Pariwarwadis never do what they say. They never said they would fan riots, but in five years of their regime they kept allowing riots, land-grabbing and loot. Nepotism becomes evident in transfers and postings even in schools and police stations. After seeing how the BJP government provided benefits, people have decided that they would give an- other chance to those who serve them without discrimination, and not to those who never fulfil promises,” he said.
The PM also highlighted the BJP government’s develop- ment work, including construction of highways, improvement in power and water supplies, rejuvenation of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Vindhya- chal and other places.
“The second decade of the 21st century came with unprecedented challenges but we converted them into opportunities,” he said, adding, “The world is surprised to see how 80 crore families were fed free rations during Covid-19 when the economy of the world was collapsing. ” He said while developed nations are struggling to vaccinate people, the government ensured free jabs for all.
“But, to oppose Modi, the ‘pariwarwadis’ kept questioning the vaccination drive, mocked the bid to promote indigenous products with the slogan ‘vocal for local’, which is boosting the economy of the farmers, artisans and weavers of the country,” he said. He also targeted Congress for “spreading negativity”. at the time of the Ukraine crisis.
