David Warner ensured that he made Brody Quin happy after his final Test innings at the SCG as the Australian opener gave away his helmet and gloves to the young fan on December 6.

Warner brought down the curtains on his illustrious Test career that spanned 112 matches, where he amassed 8,786 runs at an average of 44.60, including 26 centuries and 37 half-centuries.

Warner’s last Test innings came against Pakistan, where he scored a spirited 57, leading Australia’s chase in their fourth innings. Despite falling short of carrying his bat through the innings, Warner’s contribution helped seal a 3-0 series victory for Australia.

As he was leaving the ground to an ovation from the crowd, Warner decided to give away his helmet and gloves to Quin, who battled with the other kids to get his hands on the special memorabilia.

I didn’t think Warner would give me his helmet: Quin

Quin was ecstatic as he got the present from Warner, but admitted that he was surprised to get the Australian helmet from the opener.

“I just got up there and got through. The kids were trying to push me but I got it,” Quin said to the WA Today.

“I knew he was going to give someone the gloves but I didn’t think he’d give me his helmet.”

Quin said he ran away as soon as he got the gifts from Warner and joked he may need security to escort him to the car.

“I just ran straight away â€æ other kids were trying to grab them,” Quin said. “I might have to get security to escort me back to the car.”

Quin’s stepfather Richard Cohen said that the helmet and gloves would be carefully transported back home.

“We’re driving home but we will certainly keep it under lock and key and make sure it’s got a private place at home,” Cohen said.
